How I Consecrate my new Oracle Cards

Don't you just love unwrapping a brand new deck of Oracle Cards (or Tarot)? Oh the anticipation of holding them in your hands and imagining the magic you are about to co-create! For me there is nothing better than working with a beautiful deck of Oracle Cards for wise guidance. My cards become so familiar to me, that they feel like a trusted friend. Before they feel like this, it's important to get the 'factory and production' type energy off them and make them your own. This is where consecrating the deck comes in. There are endless ways you can consecrate your Oracle Cards and doing what feels right and natural for you is always the best way. If you have never consecrated a deck before, experiment with different ways and see what feels right. The meaning of consecrating a deck , put simply is to place your energy and intention to use the cards 'on' the cards. It's making a beautiful connection with your Oracle Cards and declaring your responsible use of them (hopefully). It feels like a very sacred act to me. My way is very easy. I'm all for keeping things uncomplicated, but if you love a lot of ritual you can be as elaborate as you like. It's more about putting your unique stamp on it, so just be you!

Below is my simple intention, you can use mine or create your own beautiful intention.

My easy way!

  • All I do is firstly knock on the opened deck 3 times to get the old energy off them. You can knock as many times as you like, 3 times just feels right for me.

  • I hold and look at each and every card, one by one. Not only does this start to put your energy on the cards but you also get to look at the imagery and get familiar with it.

  • I hold my new deck to my heart space (heart area) and feel my heart energy infusing with the cards. This feels like a palpable, invisible energy to me. You can also imagine a colour coming from your heart and permeating your cards. Or any other way that feels right for you.

  • And finally, I say in my mind or out loud my intention - 'I use this deck for the highest good of myself and those I may read for'.

Have fun! Tammie-Lea Xx
